DR. KAJEN
Dr. Kajen is a Physics and Mathematics specialist with a PhD in Engineering and over a decade of experience in science, teaching and mentoring. A former scientist at A*STAR/NUS and ex-adjunct Assistant Professor of Physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he has successfully guided hundreds of students across IB, A-Level, O-Level, CIE and SAT examinations through both online and face-to-face tuition.
Since beginning his educational journey in 2016, Dr. Kajen has worked with students from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including neighbourhood schools, independent schools, international schools, NUS High School, homeschoolers and private candidates.
His students include both neurotypical and neurodivergent learners, and he strongly believes that every student deserves the opportunity, structure and encouragement needed to succeed academically and personally.
Dr. Kajen’s teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, structured thinking and deep conceptual understanding. Drawing from his background in engineering, scientific research and university-level teaching, he helps students develop confidence, analytical ability and effective problem-solving skills rather than relying purely on memorization. His lessons are tailored to each student’s learning style, pace and academic goals.
Before pursuing tutoring full-time, Dr. Kajen spent more than a decade working in academia, research and industry. He was previously attached to A*STAR and the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he worked as a scientist and researcher. He later served as an adjunct Assistant Professor of Physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the Department of Math and Science, where he taught and mentored students at the tertiary level.
In addition to tutoring, Dr. Kajen is an ACTA-certified trainer and experienced motivational speaker who has conducted workshops and courses for junior colleges and students on study skills, motivation and academic performance. His passion lies not only in helping students achieve strong examination results, but also in inspiring them to believe in their own abilities and potential.

Beyond academics, Dr. Kajen is also an ex-U18 National Chess Champion who represented Singapore as part of the national chess team. He continues to actively coach and mentor students in chess, with an online Lichess/Chess.com rating above 2200. His background in competitive chess has greatly influenced his teaching approach, emphasizing strategic thinking, discipline, focus and resilience.
Above all, Dr. Kajen believes that every learner can grow with the right guidance, structure and mindset. His mission is to empower students to overcome challenges, build confidence and achieve their fullest academic potential.
